Trump has prepared a number of economic incentives for Putin.
The head of the White House may offer the Russian dictator the natural resources of Alaska and Donbas, as well as a partial lifting of sanctions on aviation in exchange for a ceasefire.
During negotiations in Alaska, US President Donald Trump may offer Russian dictator Vladimir Putin access to the natural resources of Alaska and Donbas and partially lift sanctions against the Russian aviation industry. This was reported on Wednesday, August 13, by The Telegraph, citing an interlocutor familiar with the plans.
Thus, Trump will bring to Alaska “a number of opportunities to make money”, which he will offer to Putin. And among them will be “opening Moscow’s access to Alaska’s natural resources”. These are resources in the Bering Strait, which separates Chukotka from Alaska. According to estimates, there may be significant unexplored reserves of oil and gas there. This may be 13% of the world’s oil reserves.
The US will also allegedly offer Russia “access to rare earth minerals in Ukrainian territories currently occupied by Russia.” According to The Telegraph, Ukraine owns 10% of the world’s lithium reserves, which are used in the production of modern batteries. The two largest lithium deposits are located in territories controlled by Russia.
Allegedly, Washington, which previously concluded a mineral agreement with Ukraine, may involve Russia in the deployment of new mining enterprises on Ukrainian lands captured by the aggressor country.
“There are a number of incentives, one of which could be a potential agreement on minerals/rare earth resources,” a source familiar with the proposals told The Telegraph.
Other incentives that Trump is said to be planning to offer Putin include lifting the ban on the supply of parts and equipment needed to service passenger aircraft operated by Russian airlines.
According to the publication’s interlocutor in the UK government, such incentives may be acceptable to Europe, provided that Putin is “not rewarded for the invasion.”
As is known, Trump and Putin will meet in Alaska on August 15. Earlier, the US president suggested that a peace agreement between Moscow and Kyiv could include “some exchange of territories,” but at the same time promised that Ukraine would return some of the territories.
Recall that today, during Zelensky’s talks with Trump and European leaders, five common principles were agreed on for ending Russia’s war against Ukraine.
